Teaching Position Description

First Grade full-time teacher for the 2025 - 2026 school year. Under the supervision of the building principal, the teacher is responsible for fostering children's spiritual,  intellectual, social, physical, and faith development in a vital part of their elementary school experience.

Teaching Position Requirements 

  • Recognizes and supports the unique Catholic Mission of the school by speaking, acting, and instructing consistent with the teachings of the Catholic Church;
  • Gives evidence of lived Gospel values by being an active member of a faith community and being open to the importance of personal faith journey; strives to model the teaching of Jesus by attitude and example.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to participate in and plan school religious and service activities to help build the school's faith community.
  • Demonstrate effective planning skills by preparing lessons designed to implement stated goals and objectives and by incorporating school and diocesan curriculum objectives in lesson plans.
  • Shows competence in teaching by demonstrating current, thorough knowledge of curriculum and subject matter and communicating effectively with students; organizes classroom learning materials to maximize student time on tasks and motivates student learning.
  • Develop and use effective methods of evaluation that are directly related to curriculum objectives and to concepts and skills taught; consistently and effectively evaluate student progress.
  • Have a strong belief that all children can and will be successful.
  • Establish a consistent disciplinary approach and classroom management that promote self-direction and positive self-image. Set high standards for student behavior and effectively manage inappropriate behavior to create and achieve a safe learning environment.
  • Maintain a functional, safe, and pleasant learning environment where children are expected to succeed and are supported when facing challenges.
  • Cooperate with school and diocesan administration; work effectively with all staff members to promote positive relationships with students and parents.
  • Have strong leadership skills as well as the heart of a servant.
  • At all times demonstrate professional responsibility in enforcing diocesan and school policies and regulations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information and display sound judgment in dress and general behavior.
  • Works collaboratively with school administration, supporting their efforts in leadership
  • Highly independent team player


Education and Experience

  • Associate's degree in education from an accredited university. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • K-5  teaching certificate preferred
  • Certified by the State of Colorado as a Teacher
  • Condition of employment will be the teacher to have completed or will complete the CDE Science of Reading training 


Other Requirements

  • Must be able to pass a criminal background investigation
  • Must have a good driving record, current Colorado driver’s license, and automobile insurance

Compensation and Benefits
St. Columba teachers earn 100% of the average regional salary.

  • B.A. +0 years or beginning salary range is $46,000K - $48,000 annually
  • The full salary range across all education and experience levels is  $46,000 - $61,000 annually

Part-Time Catholic Youth Minister/THIS POSITION HAS BEEN FILLED

Are you a dynamic and creative individual with a passion for inspiring young people on their faith journey? St. Columba Parish is actively seeking a part-time Catholic Youth Minister to join our vibrant community. This exciting role involves leading faith and fellowship events and fostering a spiritually enriching community for our youth. Your dedication will play a crucial role in shaping the spiritual lives of our young members.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Faith and Fellowship Events: Develop and lead engaging faith and fellowship events encouraging youth to deepen their love for God and others. 
  • Volunteer Recruitment: Recruit volunteers to assist in organizing and executing youth activities, fostering a sense of community and shared responsibility.
  • Summer Conference/Work Camp: Attend the Steubenville Youth Conference or Work Camp (alternate years) during the summer, actively supporting the spiritual growth of participating youth.
  • Continual Professional Development: While ministry experience is preferred, it is not mandatory. We support continual professional development and formation to enhance your skills and stay current in youth ministry practices.

Qualifications:

  • Active and fully initiated Catholic with a strong commitment to the teachings and values of the Catholic Church.
  • Passion for sharing the Gospel and inspiring young members on their faith journey of discipleship.
  • Ability to communicate and work collaboratively with the Faith Formation Director, parish staff, parents, and volunteers. 
  • Availability for weekend activities and a commitment of ten hours per week.
